Laurie Jones

Laurie Jones is the Curator and Executive Director at Rails End Gallery and Arts Centre in Haliburton County. She is also the organizer of Haliburton Art and Craft Festival, one of cottage country’s most well respected and popular juried outdoor art fairs. A lifelong sailor, canoeist and painter, Laurie divides her time between her family home on Toronto Island and the County where she enjoys the solitude and pace of rural life.

Fay Wilkinson

H. Fay Wilkinson is a Registered Expressive Arts Practitioner, operating from the Creative Cocoon in rural Ontario. She works with people with life threatening illness and mental health challenges. Her research is published in the International Journal of Arts & Health. Fay is passionate about stories; she guides people to put difficult stories into metaphorical sworlds- Stories in Motion -using traditional and digital formats. www.thecreativecocoon.com

Wendy Lingard

Born and raised in Ontario, Wendy lives in Haliburton. She received her Visual and Creative Arts Diploma from HSAD, with a specialisation in Fibre Arts, Jewelry Essentials and Artist Blacksmith. Her work grows from stories, magic and nature. She plays with form, colour and texture to bring to life whimsical adornment and clothing . Wendy is working to sell through Rails End Gallery, How(e) Creative Studio and HSAD. As well she is a featured artist in The Great Canadian Art Machine.

Scott Duggan

Scott Duggan is a Haliburton-based musician. You can find his ‘Art-chestra’ conducting itself at the Limbic Collective studio located under Glecloff’s family store. His favourite work is providing soundtracks to live performance, using various improvised found sounds and interfacing acoustic instruments with electronics. He is a production assistant at CanoeFM and was recently seen on stage with the Highlands Little Theatre.

Áine Schryer-O’Gorman

Áine Schryer-O'Gorman grew up enveloped by the non-profit arts sector, venturing deeper into community arts work as they continue their career as an artist and musician. Áine currently works with Jumblies in many roles, and for World on a String as a fiddle feacher. They have engaged with communities as a fiddle player for 12+ years, worked with Thinking Rock Community Arts for 6+ years, and have a lifelong involvement with AlgomaTrad, an inclusive music and dance camp in North Ontario.  

Ruth Howard

As the founding artistic director of Jumblies, Ruth created multi-year residencies, large-scale performances, and other other community-engaged projects. Ruth has also worked as a theatre designer, taught and mentored in many contexts; and won awards for her work. In 2023, she left Jumblies, and continues working as an independent artist and consultant. Curren projects include CarePlay, and Grounds for Goodness. 

Bethany Houghton

Bethany Houghton has been on the musical scene in Haliburton Highlands for over 15 years. She plays, teaches and performs on the violin, viola, and cello. Part of her business is also building and repairing stringed instruments, and all of the instruments that she plays are her own make. Bethany is a member of the local Highlands Chamber Orchestra, and has a band with her husband called ‘Trained By Chickadees’ where they write original tunes together. 

David Douglas

Haliburton artist David Douglas (educator, writer, designer, photographer, maker, re-maker and outdoors enthusiast) has been a watercolourist for over 60 years. Currently his works vacillate between traditional watercolour, multi media watercolour and found art assemblage. His works of the last twenty years entails extensively researching and reconceptualizing broader themes that result in narrowing subject matter choices and techniques, with beauty and thoughtful, respectful reflection.
